About/Contact
My name is Josh Gachnang, and I love servers and programming. My house (and my parent's house) is filled with various servers, and I have a bunch running in the cloud, just so I can test new server software and configurations. Each time I try something new and get it work, I write an article about it here. I enjoy helping people, and hope to channel that into being a teacher or professor one day, or helping non-profits/government get better technology (like Code For America). I love working with Amazon's EC2 infrastructure, and have written a few tools that have been released on here (or will be soon) to make better use of their infrastructure. The ability to make massively scalable or massively redundant server infrastructures with a few lines of code is mind blowing. My favorite programming language is Python, but I am also fluent in C, Java, HTML/CSS, and Bash scripting. In my servers' downtime, they run Folding@Home, because that project has so much potential.
Outside of computers, I enjoy coffee (used to manage a coffee shop in Milwaukee) and spending time with my wonderful wife and our puppy. I am also highly addicted to Minecraft.
I am always available to answer your questions! I love helping people, so don't hesitate to ask. If you need some help, I am usually available for consulting work. Just contact me on here, or find me on Twitter, and we can set something up!
